The symptoms can vary from mild discomfort increasing to a prolonged and intense pain with exposure to warmth, cold and eating. In some cases the diseased pulpae does not produce symptoms. The pacient must understand that because there is no pain does not necesarily mean that the pulp is unaffected.

An Endodontist is a dentist with special training in diagnosing and treating problems associated with the dental pulp (root-nerve, and surrounding tissues). Endodontics is one of the specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. This means an endodontists has completed at least two additional years of advanced training. In addition to performing root canal treatments, they also do root canal resorption repair and perform apical surgery to treat problems that cannot be resolved by regular root canal. An Endodontist is also trained to diagnose and find solutions to treat “cracked tooth syndrome”

Without treatment the disease in the pulp will progress to become an infection that can be propagated to  bone. This will put in danger the ability to conserve the tooth and the health of the patient.

 
What is an evaluation ?

An evaluation is necesary prior to treatment. A clinical and radiografic examination is necesary to evalute the compomised pulp and understand the treatment that is needed. Also, it is necesary to inform the dentist of pre existing medical concerns and medications that are being taken. This will assist in forming the class of treatment to follow and avoid complications.During the intial visit, we will perform thorough examination to diagnose the exact nature of the problem, and will discuss causation, treatment options, sequence, and course of healing.

Once the endodontic treatment is finalized a temporary cement is placed.After the completion of treatment in our office, a follow up visit is necessary by your dentist, to complete the restoration of the tooth.  We will make the appropriate recommendations regarding follow up visits depending on the procedure performed

Each area of dentistry is attended to by a specialist. The specialist is continuosly improving the skills and knowledge with seminars. This is necesary to be up to date with the most current advancements and techniques. This compliments the general skills and knowledge obtained in previose years of study and practice.
